Context
Matelex develops refrigeration monitoring and refrigerant leak detection equipment. My work on PolarBox focused on the measurement board, sensor interfaces and the interactions between electronics and firmware under operating conditions.
My contribution
- Review the measurement board’s electronic architecture and communication interfaces.
- Analyse firmware and sensor communication handling to connect field observations with system behaviour.
- Document recommendations that distinguish targeted changes to the existing design from longer-term architecture options.
- Present findings to the team to inform technical decisions and discussions with development partners.
What the work delivered
A combined hardware and firmware assessment, documented in two technical notes, with recommendations to prioritise reliability work.
